Preliminary filming for Reggae in the Ruff was accomplished in Jamaica in July, 2007.
Sequences were shot with 2 magnificent Rasta elders, Johnnie Walker and Preachaman.
Johnnie Walker is featured in this clip and one can really get a sense of the sweet soul of Reggae from his performance. This one is strictly ‘old school ‘ Roots Music done as only Johnnie Walker can do it.
He is joined by Danny Culture on percussion.
One can really feel the ‘Roots’ of Reggae music in Preachman’s rendition of “Island in he Sun’, the old Harry Belefonte hit from the 1950’s. The hypnotic thump from the Rumba Box also hints at the super low basslines that characterize contemporary Reggae.
